Micro Workouts

A micro workout is designed to be accomplished anywhere and/or anytime. Even in your office. If you are like me, you might sit at a computer – all day. Personally, I like to break up my day, when possible, by stepping away from the keyboard to get the creative juices flowing again. This also seems to make my day go by a bit faster too.

By performing several quick “body weight” exercises in a couple of minutes could make the difference in your lifestyle. Every hour or so set aside approximately 10 minutes, and pick a couple of the exercises below to get you started. By doing a few these exercises in intervals throughout the day could make you a little bit healthier and stronger. Personally, the best benefit is having my coworkers involved as this provides for a bonding experience.

The idea is to avoid an activity that is strenuous, as you are likely to sweat and may become tired. Also, avoid exercises that would require special equipment or location. The harder it is to workout then less the chance you are to workout.

Types of Exercises

  • Push-ups
  • Sit-ups
  • Run/Walk Stairs
  • Lounges
  • High Knees
  • Planks
  • Squats
  • Running in place
  • Jumping Jacks
  • Calf Raises
  • Arm Raises/Circles

These are just the ones I am able to perform in my office. Please share if you have others to add.

What type of exercises do you implement to make your day go by faster?

i found an article that had some yoga type stretches for runners that can be done essentially in your office chair…going to give them a try especially as my right hip always seems extra tight after a long period of sitting…i’ll check your list too!
